Following Conor McGregorâs loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on Saturday, a new video has emerged in which McGregor, from the Octagon canvas, appears to threaten to kill Poirier and his wife in their sleep.
McGregor lost the fight due to doctor stoppage after he broke his ankle. But that didnât stop him from trash talking Poirier, who accused McGregor of uttering death threats his way after the fight, which the new video appears to confirm.
âIn your sleep youâre getting it,â McGregor can be heard saying in the clip multiple times. Due to the surrounding noise, itâs difficult to fully hear what else McGregor is saying, but none of it seems to be all that friendly. McGregor also suggests that their rivalry âainât over.â Previous clips of McGregor after the fight showed McGregor clearly pointing at Poirier, although these videos proved mostly inaudible.
While the full extent of McGregorâs remarks in the new video are unclear, the âOut Of Context MMAâ Twitter account reports him saying âIn your sleep youâre getting it, in your sleep youâre dead, you and your Mrs, it ainât over,â in reference to Poirierâs wife, Jolie.Â
Numerous clips of Poirier speaking about McGregorâs behavior following his injury appear to further confirm that threats were made. âHe was sitting there on the mat with the broken leg, pointing⌠[gestures a finger gun to his head] telling me heâs gonna kill me still,â Poirier said on Saturday. âWhat are you doing bro? Thatâs disgusting. Iâll break his other leg.âÂ
In the weeks leading up to the fight, McGregor suggested he would âmurderâ Poirier in the octagon, which evidently didnât happen. âListen, Connor said some nasty stuff that didnât make it on [UFC] Embedded, and maybe when this behind-the-scenes for this fight airs youâll see him on the ground still saying some real bad stuff,â he said in a press conference.
McGregor has yet to offer a response to Poirierâs claims directly, but he has recently confirmed that heâll spend the next six weeks or so on crutches before heâll be back to training. âIt was not to be. Dustin you can celebrate that illegitimate win all you want, but you done nothing in there,â he said in a clip posted to Twitter. âThat second round wouldâve shown all.âÂ
