We hope Jrue Holiday was accurate when he was asked by NBA.com's Steve Aschburner if the Pelicans are worn down by the constant speculation about the future of his teammate, Anthony Davis. "Nah. I feel like, y’all hear it. We don’t really hear it," he said before adding that even he'd heard the rampant Lakers and Celtics rumors. Now we can add Giannis Antetokounmpo to the list of superstars who'd love to have Anthony Davis on their team.
Like LeBron, Giannis' playful recruitment happened out in the open. After leaving Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, the Greek-born star came upon Davis talking to a large group near the visitor's locker room.
"Come to the Bucks, man," Antetokounmpo said before shaking Davis's hand. "Come to the Bucks." The moment was snapped by Milwaukee's social folks, an implicit acknowledgement everyone in Milwaukee would swoon over Davis' addition.
Giannis even commented on the post before deleting it, adding a hint of mystery to the most obvious subplot of the season. "Recruiting #DvisToMilwaukee #414," he wrote.
However, as Holiday accurately stated after the Bucks beat the Pelicans on Wednestday night, "Everybody wants to [get Davis]." With the Pelicans able to offer more than any other team with an extension this summer, a Celtics team stockpiling picks and young studs barely cracking their potential, and a Lakers team with LeBron and a connection to Davis's new agent, the line for Davis already snakes around the corner. The Alphabet better hurry if he wants a good spot.
