The Toronto Raptors will be making their NBA Finals debut tomorrow night.
The historic moment left thousands in the city flocking to purchase tickets, only for their excitement to be dashed by the steep prices. On Monday, tickets went live on Ticketmaster, as more than 2,000 people waited in a queue to make a purchase. Naturally, it only took 30 minutes to sell them all out.
Another route would-be attendees could take is purchasing from a reseller, but be warned: it is not going to be cheap. CBC points out that aftermarket prices saw significant increases over the original value. The cheapest Game 1 standing room ticket that can be found on StubHub, for example, is $540, at the time of this writing, with nosebleed seats going as high as $1,200. Fans looking to be closer to the action can expect to spend way more, as some courtside seats are currently reaching as high as $60,487.
The caveat for a majority of these tickets is that they are offered as a package deal, with a minimum requirement of two per purchase.
Some people have managed to spend obscene amounts to watch Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors (along with Drake and his antics) live, while others watched as their dreams died in front of them.
