Minnesota Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison was cited for speed and reckless driving for allegedly going 140 mph, more than twice the limit.

According to a police report obtained by ESPN, the incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday when a patrol officer "observed a driver in a Lamborghini Urus traveling 140 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone." The vehicle, which had been traveling on Interstate 94, was pulled over and Addison was identified as the person behind the wheel.

"We are aware of last night's traffic incident involving Jordan Addison and are gathering additional information," the Vikings said in a statement.

The citation comes less than three months after the 21-year-old was selected by the Vikings with the No. 23 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Addison is expected to report to training camp on Sunday, three days before the entire team begins practicing on the field.

The incident serves as an eerie reminder of the fatal crash involving former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III, who was speeding in a Corvette when he collided with a Toyota Rav4, killing 23-year-old driver Tina Tintor and her dog Max.

Ruggs reached up to 156 mph in his Corvette Stingray when he struck Tintor's vehicle, according to ESPN. A blood test revealed the 2020 first-round pick had a blood alcohol level of 0.161, twice the legal limit in Nevada where the accident took place.

Ruggs pleaded guilty to DUI resulting in death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. He awaits sentencing and faces three to 10 years in prison.
