As everyone expected heading into the 2017 NFL campaign, the Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the New England Patriots in this year's AFC Championship Game. Even in the days leading up to their AFC Divisional showdown with the Jaguars, Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell didn't think Jacksonville would pull off the Cinderella run and defeat Pittsburgh for a second time at home this season, posting a tweet suggesting that he was already thinking about a possible rematch against the Patriots next week.
Of course, as you probably heard, the Jaguars came out on top, 45-42, eliminating the Steelers from playoff contention. Now the Steelers have their sights set on the offseason where they will need to resolve their long-standing contract dispute with Bell who held out at the start of the season because he wanted an extension.
While there is speculation among people in Bell's camp that he would retire over taking the franchise tag for a second straight season, the Steelers don't appear concerned about his threat of calling it quits. "Just get the numbers straight, exactly where we want them. I'm not going to settle for anything," Bell toldESPN. "I know what I do and what I bring to the table. I'm not going out here getting the ball 400 times if I'm not getting what I feel I'm valued at."
There's plenty of time to figure all that stuff out now that the season is officially over.
