Anthony Davis is one of the great young stars of the NBA, proving as much last night when he dominated the Orlando Magic in the New Orleans Pelicans' season-opening game. Davis' stat line was a stunning 26 points, 17 rebounds, and 9 blocks, numbers which haven't been seen since 2008, when Dwight Howard was the Dwight Howard who struck fear into the hearts of his opponents. Playing in a league starved for great post players, Davis has the opportunity to own the NBA in the coming years.

However, after watching Davis play last night, some basketball fans aren't ready to wait another season for Davis to earn his superstar status. Forget about LeBron or Durant or Blake Griffin or anyone else you want call the no. 1 player in the league, because, according to the NBA followers we found on Twitter, the 2014-15 MVP award is going straight to New Orleans.

Granted, if Davis is able to keep up the form he exhibited last night, then an MVP award wouldn't be unwarranted. Dropping a near triple-double in the points, rebound, and blocks is nothing to brush aside, but at the same time, let's make Davis prove himself a bit more before we hand him the hardware. After all, he wasn't even named the Player of the Game last night.
