Eric Berry Returns to Arrowhead Stadium, Gets Roaring Ovation

10 months after being diagnosed with cancer, Chiefs safety Eric Berry returns to Arrowhead.

Eric Berry made two straight Pro Bowls in 2012 and '13 and probably would've made it three straight if not for a high ankle sprain in the Chiefs' second game of the season. However, that injury was nothing compared to what he'd find out in November when he learned the chest pains he was complaining about were caused by Hodgkin's lymphoma. This sentence probably doesn't need to be typed, but that diagnosis ended his season.

Still, there was good news as his cancer was deemed to be "very treatable," and by late June of this year the team Twitter account reported that the safety was cancer-free and cleared to return to football activities. After an away game in Houston during week one, Berry returned to Arrowhead Stadium tonight (unless you count preseason, which nobody does because it's preseason).

After his tough, hospital-filled, journey Berry returned to the field to a thunderous ovation, which is probably the greatest gift he could ask for:

At least until week five, when Jay Cutler comes to town.
