Charles West is a three-star All-purpose back out of Coppell, Texas who committed to BYU back in January after rushing for almost 1,500 yards during his senior season. Just two days after Signing his Letter of Intent for the Cougars, West was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon for allegedly brandishing a knife and demanding sexual favors from an escort. Then, this past Sunday afternoon, West was shot at after a pickup basketball game. The dispute allegedly revolved around money.

West knew the supposed gunmen, 18-year-old Montay Kentrall Howard, as the two had gotten into a fight earlier in the day.  West told police that when he saw Howard carrying a gun he booked it (as you can see above). Out of the six shots fired, one connected with West's left bicep. Fortunately for West it was just a flesh wound and he was released quickly from the hospital where he was treated. Meanwhile, Howard is currently incarcerated after getting his own charge of Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon.
