Rumors that Fizdale's job was on the line started to surface in late November, when sources told SNY that the coach was expected to be fired "soon." Although the person that told SNY isn't in the position to make this decision, it only added to speculations surrounding Fizdale's job.
The Knicks are currently sitting at a record of 4-18, which has been marred by several blowout losses. Following a 21-point defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers in November, president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry held an impromptu press conference to address the state of their franchise. While Mills claimed to "believe in [Fizdale]," many felt that this wasn't a good sign for the coach's future.
