The David Fizdale era at Madison Square Garden has come to an end.

On Friday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Knicks have fired head coach David Fizdale.

The team is looking to move forward with Mike Miller as interim head coach, Shams Charania reports.

Rumors that Fizdale's job was on the line started to surface in late November, when sources told SNY that the coach was expected to be fired "soon." Although the person that told SNY isn't in the position to make this decision, it only added to speculations surrounding Fizdale's job.

The Knicks are currently sitting at a record of 4-18, which has been marred by several blowout losses. Following a 21-point defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers in November, president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry held an impromptu press conference to address the state of their franchise. While Mills claimed to "believe in [Fizdale]," many felt that this wasn't a good sign for the coach's future.

Surprising for Mills and Perry to address media after this debacle. Can’t be a good sign for Fizdale. Mills said still believes in coaching staff but at 10-game mark, he’s “not happy.”

David Fizdale: "For perspective, a good friend of mine told me never overreact to overreactors. We’re 2 games from the 8-seed. The team that’s in the eighth seed right now has 4 wins. It’s not that, like, oh my god everybody is acting like the world is coming to end. It’s not." https://t.co/cUQiPDJJEX
