Dion Waiters #11 of the Miami Heat

When playing hooky from work, there are a few things that you should do to avoid being caught. One would be keeping all evidence of your activities off the internet. Dion Waiters apparently missed this memo and it's going to cost him some playing time.

On Sunday, the Miami Herald confirmed that the Miami Heat dealt Waiters a six-game suspension for "failure to adhere to team policies, violation of team rules and continued insubordination." Although Miami doesn't specify why he's being punished, Dion allegedly channeled his inner Ferris Bueller and the front office wasn't amused. Sources claim Waiters reportedly told the Heat he was sick, then posted a picture of himself chilling on a boat to Instagram.

While the boat fiasco was a contributing factor, the suspension is also a result of Waiters' repeat offenses. According to insiders, Dion has committed "more than a half dozen team violations" this season. This includes an incident on a team plane where Waiters suffered a panic attack after taking a THC gummy, a social media tirade against coach Erik Spoelstra, and Waiters' refusal to participate in required team weigh-ins. As a result, he will be sidelined for a suspension that runs through Dec. 23.

This comes as the Heat are actively looking to shop Waiters. In October, sources told Heavy's Sean Deveney that Waiters has been on the trading block "since last Christmas" but his behavior is making it difficult for the Heat to unload him.

"No one was trying to take him on," an unnamed general manager told Deveney. "He has had just kind of junk attached to him just about his whole career."

Yet, per the Herald, these antics have only intensified the Heat's desire to move Waiters and they are willing to fight an uphill battle in order to get him off the roster.
