Before the 49ers-Saints game today, Colin Kaepernick took some time to mingle with Niners fans and acknowledge his heightened celebrity status as the ambassador of the Black Lives Matter movement to the NFL and its fans. The fans at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco were more interested in getting his signature despite the fact that Kaepernick hasn't played particularly well as he's come off the bench to boast a low 66.2 quarterback rating for the team that now has a 1-7 record.
In the photo above posted on CSN-Bay Area 49ers reporter Mindi Bach's IG account, fans were happy to see Kaepernick before the game, and handed him photos of himself kneeling during the national anthem to sign. Perhaps they are memorabilia shop owners that think these photos with silver-tipped pens will appreciate in value, or they full support his objective for not honoring "The Star-Spangled Banner."
Colin will forever be known as the guy that was more of a rebel rouser than a serviceable quarterback at best. He once had his moment of glory when he led the Niners to their last Super Bowl in 2013 after Kaepernick replaced the team's former starting quarterback Alex Smith.
But he now resonates in a way that he understands his sociopolitical impact in the community through his charity work, as long as his name (and knee) is kept in the limelight with public support.
