What happened in the moments leading up to Will Smith’s tragic death on Saturday night? That’s what police in New Orleans are trying to figure out right now, and the surveillance video above might provide them with some indication of what took place.

In the surveillance video, which was first obtained by Fox 8, you can see a vehicle that appears to be Smith’s Mercedes SUV run into the back of a Hummer that was reportedly being driven by Cardell Hayes, the man who allegedly shot and killed the former Saints player. You can then see the Mercedes speed off after the Hummer pulls over. Police haven’t yet confirmed that the two vehicles shown in the surveillance video were driven by Smith and Hayes, but the vehicles look like the same vehicles that were later recovered at the scene of Smith’s shooting.

At this point, there is still a lot of speculation about exactly what led up to the shooting. Forbes attempted to connect the dots here with a lengthy report, but it’s clear that it’s going to take some time for police to piece together the full story. Stay tuned for further details.
