ESPN Reporter Sal Paolantonio Says Tom Brady Held a Press Conference About #DeflateGate Because He Wants to Sell Uggs to Women

Did Tom Brady's Uggs sponsorship have something to do with his #DeflateGate press conference yesterday? One ESPN reporter think so.

Yesterday, Tom Brady held a press conference to discuss #DeflateGate, the controversy that has rocked the Patriots' entire organization for the last five days. And when he did, we assumed that he did it for three reasons:

  1. To let the world know that he did not have anything to do with deflating footballs before the Pats' AFC Championship Game against the Colts.

  2. To make sure that his legacy didn't take a hit—a major hit—because of #DeflateGate.

  3. To get reporters off his back by speaking at length about something that he was going to be asked about over and over and over again for the next week.

Turns out, we were wrong! Brady didn't do it for any of those reasons. Instead, he did it because he is a spokesman for Uggs, a company that sells a lot of footwear to women. And because women don't like cheaters, he had to make sure that he wasn't associated with cheating in any way. Otherwise, women aren't going to buy Uggs! Because, you know, Brady is pretty much the only reason they do it now, so he had to apologize in order to keep all of the females out there on his side.

Er, okay. So that makes no sense. But that was the explanation that ESPN reporter Sal Paolantonio provided for Brady's press conference on The Herd with Colin Cowherd this morning. It was so, so, so, so, sooooooo ridiculous. And we can't help but wonder: Does Sal Pal actually believe what he's talking about here?

Listen to Paolantonio's line of reasoning—or lack thereof—in the clip above.
