Once upon a time, the Rams played in Los Angeles. From 1946 through 1979, the team played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum after moving to L.A. from Cleveland. Then, they played in neighboring Anaheim from 1980 through 1994 before moving to St. Louis. But now, it sounds like the team might be headed back to L.A. to begin playing again as early as 2016.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Rams owner Stan Kroenke is planning on building an NFL stadium in Inglewood, Calif. He bought 60 acres of land in the city last year and has developed a plan to build on that land. His plan includes a bunch of retail, office, hotel, and residential space, a 6,000-seat performance arena, and an 80,000-seat NFL stadium that would reportedly house the Rams.
The idea of Kroenke moving his team isn't a done deal just yet, though. The Rams do have the ability to turn their current 30-year lease at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis into a year-to-year deal soon, which would give them the opportunity to get out of their deal sooner than later. But Kroenke is also reportedly pushing the city of St. Louis to help the team build a better stadium there, which could keep them in Missouri for the foreseeable future.
Either way, it sounds like an NFL stadium will be coming to Los Angeles sometime within the next couple years. Check out the entire Los Angeles Times report here and stay tuned to see which team ends up playing there.
