Even though the state of North Carolina chose not to pursue criminal charges against Greg Hardy earlier this year, the NFL just announced that they will punish Hardy for using "physical force" against his ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder on at least four occasions during their relationship.

In a statement that was released a short time ago, the NFL revealed that an investigation into Hardy's behavior found that he violated the league's Personal Conduct Policy. The league also revealed that Hardy was not truthful with NFL investigators. And as a punishment, the NFL has decided to suspend Hardy for 10 games—without pay—next season.

Hardy has three days to appeal the punishment. But assuming it sticks, he'll be ineligible to play for the Cowboys next season until Thanksgiving when they'll play Hardy's former team, the Panthers. Stay tuned for additional details.
