Do you think the NFL and football as a whole has gotten too soft? BLAME OBAMA!

No, really. That’s the message that one anonymous NFL executive delivered during a recent interview with Bleacher Report about the current state of the league. That executive thinks the Obama administration is to blame for all of the concerns people have had about concussions, CTE, and some of the other scandals (like domestic violence) that have rocked the NFL in recent years. And he believes that Donald Trump is going to make football "brutal" again over the next four years and restore the country’s thirst for the old NFL. Here’s his (insane!) theory:

Under President Obama, the country was intellectual and looked at facts. I think that’s why our ratings fell. People read a lot about our scandals or CTE and didn’t like what they saw. Under Trump, the country will care less about truth or facts. It’ll be [more raw] and brutal. Football will be more of an outlet. We’ll go back to liking our violent sports.

Which is just...whaaaaaaat? Listen, we’re all for, like, not calling 9,000 penalties during games by asking referees to swallow their whistles a little more often. And we're the first to admit that the NFL is far from perfect right now. But this may just be the hottest NFL hot take of the year, and if it actually comes true, the NFL is in even more trouble than we thought.

Go here to check out some more practical solutions to the NFL’s problems.
