If you haven't noticed by now, the Seahawks are not afraid to say outlandish things with regards to their football team. Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman started 2014 off by calling himself the best CB in the game. And now, Seattle defensive end Michael Bennett is taking things one step further by saying that the Seahawks have the best defense in the history of the NFL.
"We're the best defense to ever play football," Bennett told reporters this week, while discussing Seattle's recent performance against Arizona. "So when we play the way we play, the way we're capable of playing, I don't think whatever [Cardinals quarterback Ryan Lindley] did didn't really matter. When we line up and play the way we're capable of playing, I don't think anybody can play with us."
This season, the Seahawks are definitely one of the best defenses in the league, if not the best defense overall. They're giving up just 16.5 points per game, which is tops in the NFL.
But best…ever? That seems a bit premature, especially when you consider that the 2014-15 NFL season isn't even over yet. If the Seahawks are able to run the table and win another Super Bowl, their defense belongs in the G.O.A.T. conversation. But for now, all Bennett's statement does is put a bullseye on the Seahawks' defense. Not that they mind...
