When the Mavericks tip off the 2016-17 NBA season, they’re going to look a little bit like the 2015-16 Warriors. That’s because the Mavericks are going to have two Golden State players on their team next season as a result of Kevin Durant agreeing to sign with Golden State early Monday.
According to ESPN reporter Marc Stein, the Mavericks have come to terms with Harrison Barnes on a four-year, $94 million contract. Barnes was a restricted free agent heading into the free agency period, but the Warriors renounced their rights to Barnes on Monday after agreeing to a deal with Durant, which will allow Dallas to sign Barnes right away. In addition to signing Barnes, the Mavericks have also reached a deal with the Warriors to acquire Andrew Bogut. The Warriors needed to shed Bogut’s contract in order to make enough room under the salary cap to acquire Durant.

But Barnes is just 24, and there's a good chance he could blossom into a much bigger star than he is right now with Dallas. He averaged 10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists during his four seasons with the Warriors after being selected by Golden State with the No. 7 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
