Earlier today, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport essentially confirmed the reports. He tweeted that, "Before the end of the day, the Bears are expected to negotiate a long-term deal with Khalil Mack."

Before the end of the day, the #Bears are expected to negotiate a long-term deal with Khalil Mack that should eclipse the deal for Aaron Donald. Either way, Chicago just made a huge move.

Mack was expected to be a free agent following the 2018 season as he skipped over training camp and the preseason to bag a new contract. The 2014 fifth overall draft pick and 2016's Defensive Player of the Year is expected to shift back to outside linebacker while playing for the Bears.
