Donovan Mitchell tested positive for the coronavirus last month, and he's still not happy with his Utah Jazz teammate Rudy Gobert. The Athletic reported on Friday that the Jazz have started to look into mending the issues between the two, but one source has indicated that "it doesn't appear salvageable" right now.
Gobert became the first NBA player to test positive for COVID-19, and understandably Mitchell isn't exactly pleased with his teammate's reportedly reckless behavior. The Jazz are seemingly hopeful that their relationship "will improve over time," but whether they will be back to normal remains to be seen. Last month, Utah Swingman Joe Ingles told Sam Amick of the Athletic that he's "confident" the team will repair their chemistry when the NBA finally resumes.
When Mitchell spoke about the situation from isolation last month, he made it clear he wasn't too thrilled about the situation. "To be honest... it took a while for me to cool off," Mitchell said when asked if he had spoken to Gobert since they both tested positive. Shortly after the news broke, reports claimed that Gobert had acted reckless in the locker room and was not taking the virus seriously. Infamously, he made a point to touch all the microphones before leaving a press conference shortly before the NBA season was indefinitely suspended.
There's still no firm dates for when NBA fans can expect the season to continue, with commissioner Adam Silver indicating he might not make a decision until May.
