Boxer Devin Haney was arrested on Thursday in Hollywood for alleged firearm possession.

As reported by TMZ, the boxing star was out with friends on Wednesday, July 12 at venues including Catch L.A., but was arrested shortly after he left the venue during the early hours of the following day. Law enforcement sources said Haney's car was pulled over for an unsafe lane change and failure to appropriately signal.

While he wasn't the one driving the car, the person who was behind the wheel told officers there was a firearm inside the vehicle. Haney and his security team exited the car and when authorities searched it they discovered a semi-automatic handgun under the driver's seat. No one claimed ownership of the gun, but the car was registered to Haney so he was arrested and booked on a charge of felony possession of a concealed weapon.

He was released the same day on $35,000 bail and is expected to appear in court in connection with the arrest next month.

At just 24 years old, Haney has quickly made a name for himself as one of the biggest boxers in the world. He's the current undisputed lightweight world champion. He's fought a total of 30 career matches, of all of which he has one and a half of them through knockout. His most recent match was against Vasiliy Lomachenko in Las Vegas. The two fighters have been gunning for a match against one another since at least 2019.

Earlier this year, Haney was named the seventh-best pound-for-pound boxer by Complex.
