Serena Williams Wins Match Against Venus at the 2018 US Open

Serena's next match will be against Kaia Kanepi.

On Friday night, Serena Williams defeated her sister Venus Williams 6-1, 6-2 in the third round of the 2018 U.S. Open at New York City's Arthur Ashe Stadium. This latest content was the 30th time the sisters have played against one another professionally.

Serena won despite rolling her ankle in the opening minutes of the highly anticipated match. The last time the two sisters faced off this early in a Grand Slam was all the way back at the 1998 Australian Open. Venus won that contest.

"This was my best match since I returned," Serena said, perESPN. "I worked for it. I worked really hard these last three or four months. That's life, you have to keep working hard, no matter ups or downs you have. That's what I've been doing."
