"He and I never had a conversation where he told me, 'don't do what you're doing.' What our conversation was... 'you know what side I'm on, I understand what you're doing.' That's what the conversation was," Dupri explained. Bryan-Michael Cox previously claimed that JAY hit up Dupri to advise him against partnering with the league. Funkmaster Flex also said that Dupri told him that JAY discouraged him from working with the NFL.
I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH JERMAINE DUPRI... HE CONFIRMED THAT WHEN HE WAS WORKING WITH THE NFL LAST YEAR HE DID GET A CALL FROM JAYZ ASKING HIM.. “HOW DEEP ARE U IN WITH THE NFL?” EXPRESSING... “THAT MIGHT NOT BE A GOOD IDEA”— Funk Flex !!!!! (@funkflex) August 19, 2019
The deal that Dupri partnered with the NFL for was a series of free shows held in Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park in the days before Super Bowl LIII.

Of course, the reason people are talking about this is because the Brooklyn rapper recently announced that he and Roc Nation were partnering with the NFL. JAY, during a press conference, called the deal "an opportunity to strengthen the fabric of communities across America." The deal has been met with mixed reactions. While some supported it, others called JAY out for partnering with the league after throwing his weight behind Colin Kaepernick.
