This is how it starts.

On Monday, while speaking to TMZ, ex-middleweight/light middleweight/welterweight/and super featherweight (boxing has way too many classes) champ Oscar De La Hoya stated that he's considering running for president in 2020.

"Let me tell you one thing, I am actually [considering it]," De La Hoya said in a serious tone. "I'm actually very, very serious. And I strongly feel that if a Kanye West can do it, and... tease the world that he would maybe one day want to run for president, why not me?"

He also stated in the affirmative that this is something he's sincere about, while stating that he's actually "in the works of putting a team together to explore in further detail if this makes sense." At that point his interviewer(s) asked that if that group came back and reported that his prospects looked good would he really go through with it, to which he said he would. Only time will tell what that exploratory committee is going to say.

"I've had literally, over the years, ever since I became a professional in boxing, I've had millions of people tell me 'look, why don't you represent, why don't you stand up and have a bigger voice' and obviously the biggest voice you can have is being president," he continued.

Watch him make the comments up top (don't worry, it's pretty brief).

Why anyone would want that job is beyond us (or at least me).
