Blaine Gabbert back?

On Monday, the San Francisco 49ers decided to bench Colin Kaepernick (and his $100+ million contract), in favor of Gabbert. Earlier today, 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula said that the organization was "evaluating anyone" after he was asked if the team was committed to keeping Kaepernick as their starting quarterback.

Around a week ago, the now former Niners tight end Vernon Davis was reportedly vocal about his frustrations with Kaepernick, causing a split in the locker room. According to NFL.com's Ian Rapport, the 49ers brass tried to stick with the 28-year-old quarterback, but missed opportunities like the one below (hint hint: look at the bottom of the screen) will drive players, coaches and fans insane.

With the 2-6 NFC West division cellar dweller 49ers in full rebuild mode, it may have been best to keep Kaepernick under center to see if they could turn him around. However, it will be Gabbert, who hasn't started a game since Oct. 6, 2013, at the helm when the Niners take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
