Early this morning, the Jets announced that they had fired their head coach Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik. Smith spent seven seasons with the Falcons and assembled a 66-46 record during his time in Atlanta. He made the postseason during four of those seasons but never won a playoff game with the team.
