When the Carolina Panthers open up their season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this afternoon, Panthers’ running back DeAngelo Williams is going to be sporting a pretty unique hairstyle:

Williams has not spoken with the media since his mother’s death in May from breast cancer, except for one interview he gave to Sports Illustrated’s Peter King. Williams has long been a champion of the NFL’s breast cancer awareness movement, and is a huge reason why players wear pink during the month of October.
This year, he’s getting started a little early.
