Not Available Lead

After last night's Nets/Mavericks game, Mavs owner Mark Cuban was not happy. Dallas blew a double-digit lead to Brooklyn and ended up losing in overtime. And it resulted in this classic Cuban GIF:

But before the game, Cuban was in a pretty good mood. So he took some time out of his busy day to talk to reporters about a variety of different things. And one of those things was the NFL. It seems Cuban is keeping a close eye on the NFL these days and thinks they're handling their business all wrong at the present moment. Specifically, he thinks they're starting to get a little bit too greedy.

"When pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered," Cuban said. "And they're getting hoggy. When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way. I'm just telling you, when you got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always, always turns against you."

Cuban doesn't think the NFL should continue to try and air games on days other than Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays. Because if they do, they run the risk of imploding within the next 10 years.

"They're trying to take over every night of TV," he said. "And initially, it'll be the biggest rating thing there is. Then, if they get Saturday, now they're impacting college. And then if they go to Wednesday, at some point, people get sick of it."

People sick of the NFL? Gasp! Say it ain't so.

Cuban may have a point here, though. On the one hand, football is awesome and we all want as much of it as possible. On the other, the fact that football isn't on every single night of the week is at least part of what makes people salivate for Sunday afternoons in the fall. So if the NFL gets too greedy in the coming years and tries airing games almost every night of the week, they could potentially dilute their product.

Only time will tell. Check back in 10 years to see whether or not Cuban was right about the NFL.
