On the football field, 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith is a hell of a player. But off it, he has experienced his fair share of issues in the last couple of years. Early last year, he was arrested for DUI down in Miami. Then, last summer, he got stabbed during a wild house party at his home in San Jose, Calif. and was later sued by a man who got shot during the party. And now comes the news that Smith was just arrested again for DUI.

This time, Smith was reportedly busted in San Jose for drinking and driving. Police say that he was pulled over at about 7 a.m. today and given a Breathalyzer test, which he failed. He was then placed under arrest and booked into the Santa Clara County jail. At the moment, the 49ers have not commented on the situation but we would expect some kind of statement from them soon.

We've seen plenty of NFL players get arrested for DUI in the past, so the fact that Smith got busted isn't a huge surprise. But in this particular instance, we do have one question for Smith: 7 a.m., dude?! Sounds like you had a hell of a night. And we bet that you're going to pay the price for it.

UPDATE:

Yikes. The news just got worse for Smith. Apparently, he wasn't pulled over this morning; he hit a tree. And according to the San Jose Mercury News, police found marijuana and pills inside of his car. This isn't going to end well for him.
