When in a car, you're surrounded by air bags, crumple zones, a safety cage, seat belts, and tons of other safety equipment, but if you crash at 163 mph, you're still likely to end up as nothing more than an unfortunate smear on some pavement. If one were to crash on at 163 mph on a rocket-powered bicycle, you'd need to gather the combined skills of CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, and CSI: Edmonton (or whatever they've moved on to now) to find any remains whatsoever.

Despite the threat of simply vanishing into a cloud of red mist, ballsy Frenchman François Gissy set the new, 163 mph rocket cycling record the other day, and for that, we salute him.
