New Balance has once again tapped Stone Island for a new sneaker project. On the heels of their 574 collab in February comes a new set of FuelCell C_1 styles dropping soon.
According to both the Boston-based sportswear brand and the Italian luxury sportswear label, they chose to collaborate on this silhouette as it symbolizes both entities' dedication to innovation and craftsmanship. Both iterations of the collaborative FuelCell C_1 feature an engineered knit upper that's reflective of Stone Island’s history of textile innovations. Representing New Balance's latest tech are the FuelCell-cushioned midsole and carbon fiber plate tucked within the foam. Both colorways of the Stone Island x New Balance FuelCell C_1 are inspired by a camo pattern pulled from archival Stone Island garments from the 1990s.
"This collaboration between New Balance and Stone Island is unlike any other—both brands have a dedication to innovation and craft that drives them to go against the grain," James Lee, the lead footwear designer at New Balance, said. "The synergy of New Balance and Stone Island is reflected through the shoe."
Some of the New Balance sneakers that Stone Island has collaborated on thus far include the aforementioned 574, the 577, the RC Elite V2, and the RC Elite SI.
This set of Stone Island x New Balance FuelCell C_1 styles will be released at stoneisland.com and select Stone Island stores starting on July 25. A global launch will arrive at newbalance.com starting on July 28.
