An officer was shot this morning while responding to a call about an attempted break-in of the sneaker boutique A Ma Maniére in Atlanta.
According to 11Alive, a police officer arrived at A Ma Maniére, located at 969 Marietta Street, around 5:56 a.m. ET today. While surveying the scene, the store’s security guard mistakingly opened fire on the officer, which left him with an undisclosed injury. The officer is currently being treated for his non-life-threatening wound at a local hospital, while the security guard has been detained by the police for further questioning.
During the investigation, the owners of the store discovered a hole at the back of the cinderblock wall, which is where the attempted break-in of the store was said to have occurred. Local reporter Steve Gehlbach was able to obtain an image of the store’s damage and it can be seen in the tweet below.
Earlier today, A Ma Maniére also announced that the release of its forthcoming Air Jordan 2 “Airness” collab has been pushed back after it was initially scheduled to drop on May 13, but the store hasn’t confirmed if the burglary was the reason behind the delay.
A Ma Maniére’s parent company, The Whitaker Group, did not respond to a request for comment.
Per 11Alive, police investigations into the burglary and the shooting of the officer are still ongoing, with the suspect of the crime still at large.
