It was around this time last year that Nike unveiled its new Air Zoom Mercurial boot, and ahead of this year's FIFA Women's World Cup, the Swoosh is introducing another innovative football boot designed specifically for women.

Shown here is the Nike Phantom Luna, which the brand is touting as the most innovative and researched women's football boot in Nike’s history. According to the Swoosh, its footwear designers worked closely with female athletes, including USWNT players, to fine-tune the boots to their specific demands.

The upper introduces the AsymFit tech, which is not only designed to feel like an extension of the body but also reduces break-in time. The Phantom Luna is also equipped with Cyclone 360, a new circular stud pattern on the tooling that provides traction with less resistance.

"Nike’s commitment to championing the women’s game is evident with the new Phantom Luna boots. I was a part of the wear test group for Phantom Luna in Nike’s Sport Research Lab and have been able to continue to test them in practice. The Phantom Luna’s design allows me to plant, pivot, and push off with ease," Crystal Dunn, USWNT midfielder and Nike athlete, said about the boots.

The women's-focused Nike Phantom Luna cleat will be released sometime in June at Nike.com and at select Nike retailers.
