Chicago police arrested 26-year-old Erick Lujano Bautista last week after they allegedly discovered a warehouse of stolen Nike and New Balance sneakers that totaled close to $1 million.
News of the arrest was first reported by Fox32Chicago yesterday, when they confirmed that Lujano Bautista had been charged with felony theft. The charges were handed down following an investigation by the Cook County Sheriff's Office after they discovered last month that stolen sneakers were being kept in a warehouse located at the 1500 block of South Western Avenue. Investigators later discovered the space was being subleased by Lujano Bautista.
In the images captured by the authorities, we can see that the stolen sneakers include the "Phantom" Air Jordan 12, "Black Cement" Air Jordan 3, an unreleased A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 3 collab, "Black Toe Reimagined" Air Jordan 1 High, and many more.
Both Nike and New Balance are currently working with the local authorities to determine their plans for the stolen products. Lujano Bautista appeared in court on Sunday and was released pending further proceedings.
