The 10 Best Stüssy x Nike Collaborations Of All Time

Collaborations are one of the most significant elements of the sneaker game today. Two of the pioneering forces when it comes to collabs are Stüssy and Nike. What started back in 2000 as an idea to create some fresh new colorways on the Air Huarache changed the direction of sneakers forever. Stüssy and Nike have maintained a close relationship that has teamed them up once again for the new S & S Collection that drops this weekend. With that in mind, we take a look at The 10 Best Stüssy x Nike Collaborations of All Time.

Date: 2006

As part of the World Tour releases, Stüssy chose to create a pair of the Nike Dunk Trainer Low. At the time, the Dunk Trainer Low was a new model for Nike that combined elements from timeless silhouettes — the Nike Dunk Low and Nike Trainer 1. The Free-soled trainer had a classic appeal thank to familiar design elements like Dunk paneling and Trainer 1 forefoot strap. Stüssy followed suit with the classic approach with two tonal colorways that utilized ostrich skin for the Swoosh, a nod to previous collabs with Nike.

Year: 2006

The Stüssy World Tour was the inspiration behind three different collaborations between Nike and Stüssy. Needless to say, the Nike Dunk High was the most popular of the three. The leather and suede uppers were offset with midfoot panels and toeboxes that featured the Stüssy World Tour logo embossed into the panels. True to their history with Nike Dunk collabs, ostrich skin was chosen for the Swoosh. Additional details included ACG laces and Cordura along the ankle and tongue to make these three Dunks official.

One of the most recent collabs between Stüssy and Nike was on the often-overlooked Sky Force '88. Stüssy opted for a classic inspiration on the four colorways of the Sky Force '88 — Special Forces. Camo print made its way onto two versions of the Sky Force, while tonal tan and black versions keep it low key on the other two colorways of this 2011 release. The subtle details, like the co-branded tongue logo, made these subtle sleepers in true Special Forces fashion.

The Nike Free Trail 5.0 was chosen by Stüssy as a part of the 2006 World Tour Collection. Along with the Dunk and Dunk Trainer Low, the Free Trail 5.0 takes a trail running approach. Stüssy reworked three colorways of Free Trail 5.0 in simple colorways with unmistakable details. Speckled print on the midsoles, graphic print on the inner lining and subtle accent colors made the Free Trail 5.0 a hot commodity the minute it hit shelves.

Year: 2005

Stüssy teamed up with Nike in 2005 to celebrate their 25th year in business with the XXV collection. The resulting Court Force collection was doused in Crocodile accents and featured the famous Shawn Stüssy handwriting around the collar, which paid tribute to four cities of Stüssy — New York, London, Tokyo and Los Angeles. All four colorways of the Court Force were bangers but the black and purple hit the hardest.

Date: 2010

For their 30th anniversary, Stüssy partnered up with a number of brands under the "XXX" campaign. The collab that stood out above all others was the Nike All Court. As is true with most Stüssy designed Nike shoes, the approach is simple and effective. The Stüssy version of the All Court uses that path to create two of the most appealing pairs of All Courts ever designed, one with a white upper and snakeskin Swoosh, the second with an all black upper and a snakeskin Swoosh. Both colorways feature translucent outsoles with the Stussy logo seen from beneath. The result is classic Stüssy styling that sold out as quick as it could be stocked in the stores. A lucky few scored the purple Friends & Family pair — it pays to know people.

Year: 2002

The 2002 release of the Stüssy x Nike Blazer was an instant classic. The Blazer was on the comeback trail at the time and the combination of Midnight Navy and Turbo Pink made this one hard to pass up and even harder to come by. This two-pack was so popular that Nike Sportswear released a similar two-pack this year that used the same colorways on the VTG Blazer.

Year: 2000

As the first of the Stüssy x Nike collaborations, the timeless Air Huarache LE set the tone for future works with two unique colorways. These uber-limited joints were truly unique colorways, especially on the normally bright-colored Huarache. The burnt orange overlay combined with a brown ankle piece and creamy tan midsole was set off perfectly with a red Air Huarache logo on the tongue.

Year: 2001

Ostrich skin and snake skin on a Dunk in 2001? It's no surprise these limited release Stüssy x Nike Dunk Highs had people lining up every day for over two weeks. Only available at Stüssy Chapter Stores in New York, London, Tokyo and Los Angeles, the release of 24 per day and limit of one pair per person per day, made the release for these true premium Dunks just as unheard of as the materials used.

Date: 2003

The Stüssy x Nike Air Huarache Light dropped 10 years after the original Air Huarache Light was introduced. While the Huarache Light wasn't quite as popular as the original Air Huarache, when Stüssy put their stamp of approval by choosing it for a collab, the retro gained some steam. A green and black pair released alongside of a grey and orange version in 2003. If you were lucky enough to get a pair of them you were amped, at least until you saw the Friends & Family version with the Stüssy logo stitched into the side.
