It may seem slightly nonsensical, but high school recruits are sometimes persuaded to attend a given school by the coinciding gear that the institution can provide. Oregon is probably the first university that comes to mind, in large part due to their athletes consistently receiving some of the sickest kicks in recent years.
It's no secret that brands rely heavily on big time college programs and their athletes to show off fresh sneaks and apparel. These days, collegiate ballers are taking to social media on the regular in order to flex their latest player exclusives. But what school has the hottest PEs? Well, that's exactly what we've decided to take a look at, seeing as college hoops season is now here in full force. Here are The 20 Colleges with the Best PE Sneakers Right Now.

UCLA Bruins
Brand: adidas
Conference: Pac 12
Last season's record: 25-10
That refreshing SoCal-proper blue and yellow color combo is the major reason why UCLA continues to stay showing off good-looking PEs. We'd like to also think that the basketball gods still shine down on the Bruins in some way, shape or form due to the legendary John Wooden—and thus their footwear accordingly. And if anything else, those Crazy 8s alone solidified the Bruins' spot for a few seasons. Keep 'em coming, adidas.
Texas Longhorns
Brand: Nike
Conference: Big 12
Last season's record: 16-17
The Texas Longhorns have two major factors going for them these days: that same, sick burnt orange hue and having had Kevin Durant come through their system. He may not have spent much time there, but it was long enough for Nike to now award the Longhorns with fresh colorway options of KD's coinciding signatures. For each of those reasons, Texas generally keeps it rather proper with their PEs.
Syracuse Orangemen
Brand: Nike
Conference: ACC (first season)
Last season's record: 30-10
When your school's colors closely mimic that of the New York Knicks—oh, and a pretty prominent Knick player once graced your court, your footwear options tend to be rather lengthy. And while the Orangemen ballers quite often show love to select Knick-appropriate kicks, Nike has also of course crafted sick PEs for these guys to rock. Orange sneaks can sometimes be hit or miss, but luckily with Syracuse and the Swoosh, they're usually on point.
Louisville Cardinals
Brand: adidas
Conference: American Athletic Conference (first season)
Last season's record: 35-5
What a dramatic run these guys had last season. Great to see Kevin Ware back, by the way. But in a day and age when it's quite easy to get distracted by the numerous uniform-changes that teams undergo, Louisville and adidas have managed to keep the two intertwined accordingly. Whether it be the camo, those neon joints, or Three Stripes athlete models, adidas has continued to award the Cardinals with a gang of freshly-painted options. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that they cut down the nets last year.
Florida Gators
Brand: Nike
Conference: SEC
Last season's record: 29-8
We really dig how the Gators and Nike like to throw those blue sneaks into the mix -- sets them apart from the likes of Syracuse, etc. Those bright orange options are of course a welcomed addition as well. And the camo-style set from last season, good job Swoosh.
Marquette Golden Eagles
Brand: Jordan
Conference: Big East
Last season's record: 26-9
Ah, the Jumpman. Shame Wades are no longer avail for these guys, though. Nonetheless, we can't wait to get our hands on a pair of those Marquette AJ XX8 SEs from this season. In year's past, JB has done a great job with the original XX8 and CP3, amongst others. Can we get more of that powder blue hue thrown into the mix, though? Thanks.
South Florida Bulls
Brand: Under Armour
Conference: American Athletic Conference (first season)
Last season's record: 12-19
If you have yet to jump on the Under Armour bandwagon, we say shame on you. Maryland isn't the only school awarding UA with shine. The Bulls of South Florida have been showcasing their fresh Under Armour heat for a minute now. UA really does that green and gold/yellow color combo well. Can't wait to see what else is to come this year.
California Golden Bears
Brand: Jordan
Conference: Pac 12
Last season's record: 21-12
While Cal and Marquette sometimes tend to receive similar footwear love, that darker blue hue helps set things apart for these guys. We'd like to see a coinciding PE of the Super.Fly 2 this season, though. Can anyone work on that? Still, good stuff, JB.
Kentucky Wildcats
Brand: Nike
Conference: SEC
Last season's record: 21-12
If we were solely basing things off of this early season, the Wildcats would probably be even higher up. Those LeBrons continue to come in fresh. And hey, who wouldn't rather see them on Kentucky as opposed to Duke. No shots.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Brand: adidas
Conference: ACC (first season)
Last season's record: 25-10
The way Notre Dame switches up the uniforms, it almost seems as if the school Has about 17 appropriated colors. But with that frequent change, the footwear always seems to follow suit. From the camo to the gold to the black—adi and the Irish know how to keep it fresh. Kudos.
Miami Hurricanes
Brand: Nike
Conference: ACC
Last season's record: 29-7
Those boys down in South Florida really get into their footwear. We think even more could be done from the Swoosh with the Hurricanes, but hey, they've still been killing it recently. You've got bright options. You've got the Brons. What more could you ask for? Let's see what's coming this season—maybe a South Beach nod?
Michigan State Spartans
Brand: Nike
Conference: Big 10
Last season's record: 27-9
Sheesh those new KDs are sick. And the dark green alternate uniforms, those just pave the way for nice gold joints. Variety is what continues to grab our attention when it comes to Michigan State. And after all, this is Sparta!
Ohio State Buckeyes
Brand: Nike
Conference: Big 10
Last season's record: 29-7
Nike does a great job keeping LeBron's Ohio ties intact -- especially when it comes to the Zoom Soldiers for the Buckeyes. And can't forget about the Bron Xs. We have to be seeing an Ohio State LeBron XI this season, right? We're just saying, if LBJ himself isn't wearing 'em much, someone has to.
Georgetown Hoyas
Brand: Jordan
Conference: Big East
Last season's record: 25-7
We have to start off with those camouflage XX8 SEs, right? Very nice -- even nicer than last year's impressive edition of the regular XX8. That rich Georgetown history seems to coincide perfectly with the equally-seasoned past of JB. We don't see the two slowing down any time soon. You?
Baylor Bears
Brand: adidas
Conference: Big 12
Last season's record: 23-14
Adidas has really kicked things into a higher gear when it comes to Baylor over the past few years. And those highlighter uniforms with the kicks to match—we'll take two. They are yet another school that switches the gear up nicely. They do bright. They do camo. They do classic. With PEs to match each, it was almost impossible not having the Bears up this high.
Maryland Terrapins
Brand: Under Armour
Conference: ACC
Last season's record: 25-13
Much like Phil Knight with Oregon, Maryland will forever stay laced with the best of the best when it comes to Under Armour—with Kevin Plank having attended the university, it is of course only right. But the way UA does those Medieval looks for the Terps—yes, yes, yes. That home-cooked treatment has been suiting everyone quite well. Keep up the good work.
Michigan Wolverines
Brand: adidas
Conference: Big 10
Last season's record:31-8
Again, we're a sucker for bright hoops kicks around here. Some may say that the excitement surrounding this team last season influenced our decision—but c'mon, have you not kept up with the Wolverine PEs? They have bright yellow, blue, white, grey. Let's just say that adidas keeps 'em diversified.
Duke Blue Devils
Brand: Nike
Conference: ACC
Last season's record: 30-6
Ah, Duke. Everybody's favorite team to love to hate. But one thing's for sure -- Coach K always has these boys in the mix, and Nike consistently blesses their feet accordingly. This early season has already been no different. Those new LeBrons—fire. This of course isn't the first time they've been awarded Bron Bron's kicks either. Oh, and they also do Kobe and KD well, too. It almost isn't fair.
North Carolina Tar Heels
Brand: Jordan
Conference: ACC
Last season's record: 25-11
All praise due to His Airness, MJ. Need we say more? Okay, we will anyway. Appropriately, Jordan Brand always awards Jordan's old stomping grounds, North Carolina, with the best of the best when it comes to Jumpman sneaks. Just something about that Carolina Blue that tends to always feel and look so right.
Oregon Ducks
Brand: Nike
Conference: Pac 12
Last season's record: 28-9
Bet you didn't see this coming, did you? And if we were ever questioning, the past week set Oregon ever further apart from the rest of the pack. KDs, Zoom Soldiers and Jordan XI Lows—that's not right on so many levels. And of course add those to the ever-impressive array that Phil Knight's crew has continued to bless Oregon with. Yeah, these guys are the undisputed number one. What oh what will arrive next? Can we get some releases, though?
