It’s that time of year again: Nike Air Max Day is upon us and with it a whole day of special drops, live and interactive content, real-world events, and more. To celebrate, JD Sports has joined the celebration with its own collection of Air Max kicks in exclusive colourways and exclusive Air Max apparel.
We’ve already heard how eBay saw a surge in Nike searches in the run-up to the big day. Key among those searches, Air Max ‘97s saw a 10% boost, while Air Max Dn saw a 35% rise.
On that note, we come to the other, and arguably most important, element of Air Max Day, the exclusive drops. This year, two new kicks have arrived: the Nike Air Max Dn and the Nike Air Max 1 '86.
The Air Max Dn (above), which calls to mind the Air Max 720 and Air Max Tn, was born of a new Nike Air unit called ‘Dynamic Air’, a dual chamber, four-tubed component designed to allow the air to respond to the pressure as you walk.
The Air Max 1 ‘86 (above) caused a stir recently when LeBron James was seen walking through the pre-game tunnel in a previously unseen ‘Royal/Volt’ colourway. The new version put volt accents behind the tongue and on the midsole of the white and royal blue colourway. It also featured the date “3.26” on the tongue tag to represent Air Max Day.
