One of the longest partnerships in professional sports will continue for at least a couple more decades, as adidas and FIFA announced today that the two parties have reached an agreement that will see the Three Stripes continue to be the Official outfitter of the FIFA World Cup, as well as all other FIFA events until 2030.

"Over the last 40 years, adidas and FIFA have worked closely together to develop football worldwide. Therefore, it was a natural step for us to extend one of the most successful partnerships in the history of sports marketing,” said Herbert Hainer, CEO of the adidas Group. “We are happy and proud that our close relationship with FIFA will continue. This unique partnership and our extensive presence at all FIFA World Cups will help us to expand adidas’ position as the leading football brand worldwide.”

adidas, who has been the official FIFA supplier since 1970, will continue its long-standing trend of supplying the Official Match Ball for the World Cup, along with unique uniforms for thousands of volunteers (not to mention players). Speaking of, adidas has already begun the process of unveiling national team kits for the 2014 World Cup in recent weeks, and images of the adidas Brazuca (the official World Cup ball for Brazil) have even leaked on the web in recent days. To keep the festivities rolling, the Sneaker Report crew even put together the complete history of adidas’ Official FIFA World Cup soccer ball.
