Ronnie Fieg has been quietly teasing what’s to come between his store Kith and New Balance on Twitter, including posting a cryptic tweet about a possible 998 collaboration to celebrate the silhouette’s 30th anniversary this year. Now, we have a first look at his forthcoming project.
Gracing the current issue of Shoes Master is the unreleased Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 998 collab as confirmed by the Japanese sneaker magazine on Instagram. In typical Fieg fashion, the 998 shown above features a premium pigskin suede upper, including various hairy suede panels throughout. Both shoes pictured don different color schemes, so it’s currently unclear if it’s one mismatched pair or two separate releases.
At the time of writing, release details for the Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 998 collab have yet to be announced by either of the two entities. Keep it locked to Sole Collector for official updates.
UPDATE (04/11): Fieg has officially unveiled his two-shoe New Balance 998 collection designed in partnership with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. According to Fieg, the two styles are inspired by the legendary architect’s “Broadacre City” concept. The collab will first release on Friday, April 14, exclusively at Kith Tokyo, followed by a second release at a pop-up in the Cabaret Theater inside Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona. The final release will take place on April 17 at Kith.com and at Kith shops. Both pairs will retail for $220.
UPDATE (04/20): After selling out at all Kith accounts last week, New Balance confirmed on its release calendar that one of Fieg’s two “Broadacre City” New Balance 998 collabs is releasing again on April 24 at Newbalance.com for $220.
