It's hard to believe the Lakers are still without a win but even harder to believe this season marks Kobe Bryant's 17th year in the NBA — he has spent almost half of his life in the NBA as one of the top off-guards in the league's history. The fact is the son of former 76er Joe “Jellybean” Bryant has been nationally recognized since his days at Lower Merion High School outside of Philly (and taking Brandy to prom didn’t hurt his rep either). At 17 years old he was drafted 13th overall by the Hornets and traded on Draft Day to the Lakers for flop-king Vlade Divac. You know the rest — an 81-point game, 14 All-Star appearances, five rings, two sneaker deals, and an MVP award later, the Black Mamba has cemented his place as one of the NBA's all-time greats.
