The polo shirt has become a staple in many wardrobes. It can be dressed up or worn casually. It also has obvious connections to sports like tennis and golf with the garment becoming the signature uniform for many of each respective sport's participants. For 2019, Nike has taken a look at its polo shirt and made some improvements that achieve the perfect balance between sport and style.

The new and improved Nike Polo maintains a traditional fit. Is is constructed with a cotton exterior and polyester interior to give it a classic look while still providing a comfortable feel ideal for performance.

"It was important to nail the traditional aesthetic of sport while simultaneously aiding the movement of sport. The fabric mix, with a cotton exterior and polyester interior, solves for this as it allows the polo to glide along the skin while in swing," Creative Director for Apparel, Specialty Categories Kelly Tweeden said in an official press release.

Despite a more modern overhaul, certain features remain intact from the usual polo shirt like the fit, two-button collar with a pearlized finish, and a drop-tail hem. Nike-specific upgrades include a cooling fabric build, collars designed to lay flat throughout wear, a vented back neck collar area, and eyelets at each underarm for increased ventilation.

Branding is kept to a minimum with the top button of the collar sewn on with orange "N" threading, a small orange label on the outside of the placket, and tonal Swoosh stitched onto the left sleeve. The new Nike Polo arrives at nike.com on April 9 in a wide array of colors like blue, pink, orange, yellow, and more.
