Last night, Skepta and Nike helped install a traditional Moroccan souk within an underground space in London, to launch the Air Max 97 Sk.

Encased within the Moroccan-feel street set-up were shops and stalls all selected by Skepta, owing to a personal connection with the North London MC.

Amongst the vendors at the 'SK Marketplace' was Seattle Gold, craftsmen of Skepta's most iconic jewellery pieces (including iced-out inhaler and Jme head pendants), Grace's Flower Stall and Hollywood Hair Salon, with Skepta's personal barber on hand to trim guests. Perhaps the most popular of stalls on the night belonged to south London artist Ryan Hawaii, offering up paint customisations on Sk AIR t-shirts and caps.

A-list friends of Skepta dropped in to show support, too, with A$AP Rocky, Goldie and Virgil Abloh all taking in the sights and sounds in London.

"When designing the Air Max 97 Sk, we took the colour palette of Morocco into consideration, but also the palette of the 1999 Air Tuned Max. That was the first shoe I ever saved up my money to buy, so I wanted to bring its magic to the 97s — the magic that made me first love Air Max when I saw it as a child," revealed Skepta, on the inspiration behind the new drop.

Expect these to fly off the shelves.
