While football has never been an Olympic Sport, the NFL has still had its fair share of Olympians suit up over the years. NFL.com recently put out a surprisingly long list of current and former NFL players who have also competed in the Winter and Summer Olympics.

Notable Olympic achievements from NFL players include San Francisco 49er Michael Carter becoming the only player to win both an Olympic medal and Super Bowl ring in the same season and Cleveland Brown Milt Campbell becoming the first African-American to win a gold medal in the decathlon at the 1956 Melbourne games.

Some of the more high profile athletes that have competed in both the Olympics and NFL are Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Thorpe, Herschel Walker and Willie Gault, who competed with both the U.S. mens track and bobsled teams. To check out the rest of the list click here.
