This week marks a big one for Tom Cruise enthusiasts. Not only is Top Gun: Maverickhitting theaters on a wave of solid reviews, but a new teaser trailer for the next installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise has also been unveiled.
Up top and/or below, catch the newly released glimpse at Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which is slated to hit theaters next year. As previously reported, new release dates for both the seventh and eight entries in the Cruise-centered franchise were shared at the top of the year.
We last saw Cruise as Ethan Hunt in 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, a frequent Cruise collaborator who’s also helming Dead Reckoning parts one and two.
The films will be released one year apart, with Dead Reckoning Part One opening on July 14, 2023 and Dead Reckoning Part Two landing on June 28, 2024, respectively. Ahead of Monday’s trailer drop, there was much discussion on social media over the alleged leaking of a Dead Reckoning Part One teaser.
Top Gun: Maverick, meanwhile, is debuting this Friday. Widely shared footage from this month’s premiere event aboard the U.S.S. Midway in San Diego showed Cruise making what this writer billed as perhaps the most Tom Cruisiest entrance imaginable, i.e. arriving in a helicopter he piloted himself.
