UPDATED 3/3, 10:20 a.m.: TMZ has more alleged information about Kardashian and West’s custody situation, the “big issue remaining” in their divorce, and it may not end up being overly formalized.

The outlet reports via “sources with direct knowledge” that it is now “highly likely it’ll end up so that Kim will be home base and Kanye can see his four kids pretty much whenever he chooses.” Those insiders also indicate even though the divorce has often been publicly messy, negotiating their future in terms of North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm has been “handled peacefully.” Examples provided by TMZ include Ye having the children on days he holds Sunday Service, and him asking “to take one of the kids to a basketball game, and Kim gladly obliged.”

Ye’s frequent international travel is one reason for keeping custody parameters loose, and TMZ’s sources “say it will get super messy if Kim and Kanye get too specific with custody arrangements.”

TMZ reports that Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Steve Cochran on Wednesday approved Kardashian’s request to be granted single status in the eyes of the law amid her divorce proceedings with Kanye West. As a result, Kim will be dropping West from her last name.

Although the couple haven’t completely settled their financial and custody issues, the ruling will allow both parties to become legally divorced. In other words, Kanye is now legally a single person as well.

According to the outlet, Kim joined the hearing via Zoom, while Kanye was represented by his new lawyer Samantha Spector, who did not object to Kardashian being declared single.

However, Kanye’s legal team presented the judge with three conditions. The judge approved Ye’s request that “any right to get reimbursement of money that’s supposed to be divided up will be preserved in case either of them dies.”

Cochran subsequently denied the conditions that Kim can “not transfer any assets she had in trust,” and that she waive her “marital privilege,” which protects communications privately disclosed between a husband and wife.

TMZ later updated its article to point out there “are reports Kim’s paperwork was not filled out correctly.” The outlet said the only issue was Yeezy being called Kanye West, while his legal name is now simply Ye, and “the divorce docs were changed to reflect that.”

“In the end, no other conditions were imposed when the judge signed the order,” TMZ confirmed.

The ruling arrives over two months after Kardashian requested the judge to restore her single status. “I very much desire to be divorced,” she stated in December, while maintaining that Kanye’s social media posts had caused “emotional distress,” as she asked him to keep their divorce private.

Back in February, Kardashian reflected on the couple’s divorce in an interview with Vogue, where the reality TV star explained she “did what made other people happy” for a long time.

“For so long, I did what made other people happy,” Kardashian said. “And I think in the last two years I decided, I’m going to make myself happy. And that feels really good. And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy. I’ve chosen myself. I think it’s okay to choose you.”
