Joe Rogan loves a hot take.

In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcast host was discussing how “wokeness” has ruined modern comedy films and that The Hangover is “the last great comedy movie,” per Mediaite.

“Is there a woke comedy movie? Is there even an attempt?” Rogan said to his guest, comedian Tom Papa, “Is there even an attempt at a politically correct comedy movie? They just stopped making comedy movies.”

Rogan continued, “What was the last really good comedy movie?” Rogan questioned. “It used to be you would be able to—There’s Something About Mary, Kingpin. You just snap ’em off. You knew what they were. It’s like wokeness killed the comedy movie in a lot of ways.”

However, Rogan did admit that there has been one singular comedy movie that falls in line with The Hangover’s humor, which is Seth Rogen’s 2013 film This is the End

Back in February, it was reported that Rogan’s deal with Spotify was worth double than it was previously thought. His licensing deal with the streaming platform was reported as $100 million, but now it seems that it was worth double. Some sources say it was even worth over $200 million.

He touched on the deal in an interview with The New York Times in May 2020, saying he was uncomfortable discussing the dollar amount in the midst of a pandemic. “It feels gross,” Rogan said at the time. “Especially right now, when people can’t work.”
