It may seem like Idris Elba doesn’t have many irons in the fire, judging from his IMDb page, but a significant announcement could be on the horizon.

Journalist Erik Davis shared that he recently spoke with Elba, who revealed he’s “got a really big thing cooking for DC right now.”

NEW: I just spoke with Idris Elba about his new film #Beast. I asked what we’ll see him in next - a Marvel project or DC, and he said DC. He said he’s got a really big thing cooking for DC right now. 👀 Full interviews for BEAST will drop soon & my reaction drops tonight pic.twitter.com/Fmabs6jTnC

Elba has bounced between Marvel and DC, appearing as Heimdall in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War for the former and playing Bloodsport in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad for the latter. The actor toldVariety that he would like to explore Bloodsport’s backstory, which involves the anti-hero putting Superman in the ICU after shooting him with a kryptonite bullet. “I would definitely like to tell the Superman story. There’s no doubt,” he said. “Bloodsport versus Superman. It needs to happen.”

Varietyreported last week that Elba would star in and produce Bang!, based on the comic series of the same name about a spy who has been tasked with hunting down the author behind a series of novels utilized by a terrorist group to brainwash its readers and subsequently start the apocalypse. Bullet Train director David Leitch will helm the project, which will be released on Netflix.

Elba is currently making the rounds promoting his upcoming Will Packer-produced film Beast, which is slated to be released in theaters on Aug. 19.
