Avengers: Infinity War may cross the $1 billion by the end of the week.
Deadline reports the Marvel film hit $808.4 million in international box office sales on Tuesday, a jump of $83 million from Monday. Domestically, Infinity War has earned over $300 million. This record ties with Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the fastest film to reach that level in five days. However, it could blast past The Force Awakens as the fastest film to hit $1 billion, so long as it manages it in 12 days, as it's predicted to do.
With the global box office mark, Infinity War officially tops several superhero films including Spider-Man 2 ($784 million), Deadpool ($783 million), Guardians of the Galaxy ($773 million), The Amazing Spider-Man ($758 million), X-Men: Days of Future Past ($748 million) and Suicide Squad ($747 million). And this is before the film opens in Russia tomorrow and later in China on May 11.
Before its release, the third Avengers was projected to make $500 million at the international box office during its opening weekend. It made more than $640 mill. In just six days, Infinity War also passed Justice League's entire global earnings.
The investment seems to be working out for Marvel, which spent $150 on promotion for the film. The achievement isn't too surprising though since Fandango revealed Infinity War outpaced the last seven Marvel films combined in advance ticket sales.
