Celebrities You Didn't Know Were Friends as Kids

Sure, it might not be that easy to connect with people outside of Hollywood when you're famous, but you'd be surprised by the random connections that some celebrities had way before they even entered the spotlight. Some met while waiting in line to audition for mediocre projects, others met their childhood companions through their famous parents' entourage, a few were just classmates.

Sometimes famous connections seem so random that they make you wonder if any of your friends have a shot at hitting the big time (and hopefully taking you with them). Just like this crop of celebrities you didn't know were friends as kids.

Aubrey Plaza and John Gallagher, Jr.

Friends since: They were 15-years-old.
How they met: They met, and dated, when they were acted together in community theatre in Delaware.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Maya Rudolph

Friends since: Specific ages haven't been disclosed, but the picture above shows that they've been cool since grade school, at the least.
How they met: They met at St. Augustine by the Sea School and remained friends since. Their families later made a movie together called Duet.

Friends since: They were around 4-years-old.
How they met: They attended pre-school together in Los Angeles and partied into their 20s until one of them got a little more famous than the other.

Cameron Diaz and Snoop Dogg

Friends since: Their teens.
How they met: They attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School together, where Snoop dealt Cameron that "white girl weed."

Jennifer Aniston and Chaz Bono

Friends since: They were each 13-years-old.
How they met: Both attended New York City High School Of Performing Arts in 1987, when Chaz, the son of Cher, was known as Chastity.

Lauryn Hill and Zach Braff

Friends since: They were each around 12-years-old.
How they met: Hill and Braff went to high school together in New Jersey. She was even invited to his bar mitzvah.

Courtney Love and Drew Barrymore

Friends since: Courtney was 19 and Drew was 8.
How they met: Courtney says that she met Drew "in a bathroom, smoking. I was 19 and she was, like, 8."

John Krasinski and B.J. Novak

Friends since: They were in their teens.
How they met: They went to school together at Newton South High School—in Newton, Massachusetts—and B.J. Novak cast Krasinski in his senior play.
