Popular influencer and YouTuber Jack Doherty refused to stop recording before he was arrested in Miami Beach for drug possession and other charges, because he was in the middle of a bet.
According to Miami Beach Police, the 22-year-old attempted to engage with officers to, per an arrest affidavit, “create video content, positioning himself in the middle of the roadway with passing vehicular traffic and creating a significant safety hazard."
As Doherty continued trying to interact with officers, he was warned that if he didn’t comply, then he would be arrested. Doherty — spoiler alert — didn’t comply, even telling the officers that he would quit “once I’m done with this bet.”
Doherty was arrested, searched, and found to be in possession of “half of an orange oval-shaped pill with 3 imprinted on it, consistent with a Schedule II amphetamine, as well as a black plastic container holding three hand-rolled suspected cannabis cigarettes weighing approximately 3.0 grams combined."
Doherty was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on three charges, including possession of a controlled substance and marijuana possession.
Not wasting a second to go viral, Doherty posted on TikTok after he bonded out from jail to let his huge follower count know about the situation.
“I got arrested last night and now I’m free,” he said. “I’m a free man, baby. Let’s go.”
Doherty is facing up to seven years in prison due to his charges if he’s found guilty and gets the maximum sentence for each count.
